NC 540 - Cary NC

 NC 540 - Cary NC

The long awaited NC 540 is finally becoming a reality for those of us in the southern part of Wake County, especially Cary NC.  When my family was
relocated to Cary in 1995 our Realtor told us of this new highway NC 540 that was planned.  NC 540 was then called the "outer belt line" because it was the second  belt line surrounding the Raleigh area. Over the years we've seen pieces of the road come to life.  The sections of NC 540 were in North Raleigh connecting  RDU airport to the 64 bypass near Knightdale.  It was half complete.  My family could now be in North Raleigh in minutes.  It was fabulous!!

The souther part of NC 540 was going to be long was off without some funding, 2032 was the rumored completion date. Yikes!  The decision was made, after much discusion from the neighboring municipalities, to create North Carolina's first toll road.  NC 540 will be an electronic toll collection system.  What would you expect in the home of RTP.

The newest section of NC 540 when complete will be 18.8 miles in length extending to Holly Springs. The toll rates have not been set, however other toll rates on similiar projects in the country run between $ 0.10 - $0.20 cents a mile.

Construction of the new sections of NC 540 are scheduled to begin December 2009 and open to traffic in 2012.  After driving to Fuquay Varina several times this week I can tell you I am marking that date on my calendar!

Twin Lakes Cary

Twin Lakes Cary

The Hybrid is in a hurry today because we are off to Twin Lakes Cary.  Driving down Davis Drive towards the RDU airport I take a right on McCrimmon Parkway and there on the right is the entrance sign for Twin Lakes Cary. Twin Lakes is a neighborhood designed by Martha Stewart and opened too much fanfare in 2006.

I can remember Matt Lauer of the TODAY’s SHOW interviewing Martha Stewart as she toured her new homes at Twin Lakes Cary.  It was quite exciting, the TODAY’s SHOW here in Cary NC!                                 Twin Lakes Cary-Linda Lohman

Twin Lakes Cary - Linda LohmanMartha Stewart collaborated with KB Homes to create twelve Twin Lakes Home models.  The homes were modeled after Martha Stewart’s own homes in New York and Maine.  Each is enhanced with her trademark wainscoting, bead board, crown molding, picture frame molding and other classic elements.

The architecture was quite a departure from the norm here in Cary.  Folks flocked to Twin Lakes in droves.  Today, Twin Lakes Cary is almost complete.  Several single family home and town home options are still available. Twin Lakes Cary is one of
Cary's Top Neighborhoods.
Re-sales are also strong.
Twin Lakes is part of the Wake County Prublic Schools.
